All around me/ brothers and sisters are dropping like flies/ it is hard for me to keep up with the times/ turn on the tv screen and here about another brother who got choked/ take a glance at my skin color and realize we're in the same boat/ but this boats more like a raft because we flow down the river/ twists and turns/ thinking of my fate makes me quiver/ not in fear, but in sadness/ for what will be my caption?/ here lies a captain/ no no/ here lies a man of action/ is what I'd like it to say/ and a blue sky above as opposed to gray/ but to be a man of action means I must make noise/ in my neighborhood/ where little girls and boys smile at the thought of growing/ but slowly my smile subsides as I realize where they are going/ and I know no one wants to be that guy/ but when is the last time we really tried?/ getting together in marches/ stamping out our own spark then/ go back home where we feel comfort/ we only feel for a moment/ for our fellow sister and brother/ and now I find myself in a predicament/ looking at the past and asking myself where that nigga went?/ where's Martin?/ where's Malcolm/ what would we be without them?/

I look around and see mice but no Falcons/ and the Falcons I do see have retracted their talons/ for they forget of the talent and verocity they hold/ one can only fight when they know/ knowing is half the battle/ and I urge my people to remember/ our tragedy was not September/ and if you do consider yourself a member/ of the black girls and boys club/ better get buzzin like bugs/ cause them old folks tired and we have able bodies/ so when it's time to fight your oppressors don't be froggy
